Médecine is an embodiment of a particular feeling, the kind inducing a sense of wonder, curiosity and joy. Residing between Prague and southern Sweden, Nina Makelberge focuses on collecting and creating one of a kind objects that bring individuality and intimacy, that help turn a place into a space for living. The merging of her European roots with influences from her Asian upbringing are the foundations behind Médecine and her design practice. With admiration for both the natural world and craftsmanship, she instills her designs and interiors with a mix of cultural heritage, juxtapositions and artistic flair, always compelled by the question: what makes an object wanted to be held ..either in hand or in desire? Along with her careful curation of art and antiques, she creates her own collection of sculptural objects drawing on ancient techniques native to Bohemian and her fascination for the perennial myth of the shells and the sea.
